Why are you voting?

After seeing more witty videos that point out the faults of McCain today rather than hearing about why people are voting for Obama, I thought Id give people the opportunity to sound off on why they are voting for Obama or McCain. The only rule is that you cant say anything negative about the opposing candidate and you cant say, "because candidate X doesnt do Y". No reasons related to the current President either. I want to know why a candidate has your support and I want details.

Hopefully Rick at SFDB will put this in the morning Sift to generate some answers. Perhaps he could get things rolling?

You vote so you can bitch about it later. So you can say, "I told you so."

Until you have skin in the game, shut the hell up. Simple.

Wow, tell us how you really feel nonee...

Im voting because I support Obama's position on abortion, immigration, and I like his overall views on how to help the economy, though it may take awhile to turn this thing around. I also think our country has been run by a group of individuals with one line of thinking and little acceptance of input from those with ideas who differ from that plan. So, its time for a change.

I'm going to write in my candidate's name.

I am not in favor of the 2 party system.

Some tell me that if I vote for a 3rd candidate then I am taking a vote away from Obama.

1. Not true.
2. Where the heck is the logic there?

I'm supporting Obama because I think the country needs to move away from the aggressive military-type politics of the current administration and return to a diplomatic process of conflict resolution. Obama has said he would sit and talk with world leaders to work out diplomatic solutions to conflicts, which I think is more important than ever given the state of the global economy. We've seen how our economy affects the global markets and vice versa, so as much as we may hate to admit it, we need our European and Asian neighbors (who have been largely critical of the US approach to recent conflicts) if we are to successfully navigate the crisis we are in. We can't continue to be viewed as the obnoxious stepsister of the world and I think a leader like Obama will restore America's place as the standard to which all other countries aspire.

I already voted for Obama (via absentee ballot) because of the following reasons:
-His stance on Iraq. I've always been against the war in Iraq)
-His & Biden's stance on abortion. I'm Catholic and I am personally against abortion, however, I'm also a woman and if I get raped (God forbid) I should have the opportunity to make my own decision.
-His stance on communication with our "enemies". I think we should have conversations with people even if we don't agree with them. Communication is always key to a better understanding.
-His positive stance on the changes that need to be bought about in Washington.

... I can keep going and going...

There are also many negative aspects against McCain (flash judgments, quick tempers, old-man senility, cancer, can't-stand-palin, etc...), but I'm not going to go into the specifics of that right now (the question and direction of the post don't call for it).
